Are MCRO records official certified court records?

No. MCRO terms say the online information is provided as a service and is not the official court case record. The Minnesota Judicial Branch does not certify MCRO records or search results. Certified documents must be requested from local court administration. In Ramsey County that is the District Court Records office at Room #72 of the main courthouse, 651-266-8237. The Court Administrator page covers methods and payment.

Where is the Ramsey County District Court Records office?

The Records office is at the Main Courthouse, 15 W. Kellogg Blvd., Room #72, Saint Paul, MN 55102. Phone is 651-266-8237. The office issues copies of Ramsey County District Court documents and keeps public access terminals for cases that are not fully available online. The office is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

How do I get certified copies?

Request certified, exemplified, or plain copies from District Court Records by mail, phone, or in person. Payment must be made before copies are released. Mail orders take check or money order. Phone orders take credit or debit. In-person orders take cash, check, money order, or card. Agencies requesting certified criminal copies should email the office and allow up to five business days.

Why can't I find a pending criminal or traffic case by name?

MCRO terms state pending criminal, traffic, and petty misdemeanor cases without a conviction will not return in Case Search or Hearing Search by defendant name. Those cases return by case number or citation number. After a conviction is entered, the name search starts returning the case. The arrest records page and traffic court records page cover the workaround.

Where do I find Ramsey County jail bookings?

Use the Ramsey County Adult Detention Center roster. The county says the roster is updated every 30 minutes and includes recent bookings, names, dates, arresting charges, formal charges if applicable, and court information such as case numbers, court dates, and hearing locations. The inmate records page walks through the fields.

How long do released inmates remain online?

The county ADC page says records remain available while a person is in custody and for five days after release. The open data story metadata says records are available for the last 90 days, including today's date. For an exact current status, call the ADC at 651-266-9350. The released inmates page covers state and federal release lookups too.

What is the Adult Detention Center address?

Adult Detention Center, 425 Grove St., Saint Paul, MN 55101. Phone: 651-266-9350. The 500-bed pretrial facility holds people from arrest until court disposition. The Law Enforcement Center shares the same address; that is where criminal calendars and jail-side hearings run.

What is the Ramsey County Correctional Facility?

The Ramsey County Correctional Facility (RCCF) is a 556-bed facility at 297 South Century Avenue, Saint Paul, MN 55119, phone 651-266-1400. It houses male and female adults sentenced by the Second Judicial District for up to one year and provides programming, education, and treatment. The jail population page covers capacity and trends.

What should I do if I have an active Ramsey County warrant?

The Sheriff says the best way to resolve an active warrant is to turn yourself in before 4 a.m., Monday through Thursday, excluding holidays. The early window may reduce the chance of staying in jail over the weekend. Turning yourself in resolves the warrant immediately and may allow bail or bond if the court permits. Talk to an attorney or the Public Defender first if eligibility applies.

Are warrants issued by the Sheriff's Office?

No. Warrants in Ramsey County are issued by District Court judges. The Sheriff's Office processes arrest warrants as required by state statute and provides the Online Warrant Search as a public service. The court file holds the warrant order; the Sheriff's index posts it to the public after the court signs it.

Where do I get marriage records or a marriage license?

Ramsey County Vital Records at the Plato Building handles marriage licenses and marriage records, not District Court Records. Address: 90 Plato Blvd. West, Saint Paul, MN 55107; phone 651-266-1333; Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The marriage and divorce records page covers the application and fee details.

Where do I get divorce records?

Divorce records are District Court records. Search MCRO by party name or case number and request certified copies from the Ramsey County District Court Records office. Vital Records handles marriage, birth, and death, but not divorce decrees. The split is the most common point of confusion in Ramsey County court records lookups.

Are probate records online?

Many public probate documents are available through MCRO. MCRO lists all documents in Formal Probate, Other Probate, Guardianship and Conservatorship, and Trust case types as accessible and downloadable when filed on or after July 1, 2015 and when public. See the probate records page for the search flow.

Why are some family documents missing from MCRO?

MCRO limits family document access. For family case types and post-adjudication paternity, only court-prepared orders, opinions, and notices are accessible online for documents filed July 1, 2015 or later. Other family documents need courthouse access or specific authorization. Domestic abuse OFP and Harassment Restraining Order files do not appear on the public web at all.

Are juvenile records public?

Juvenile records are restricted by Minnesota law and court rules. MCRO excludes CHIPS and Juvenile Delinquency Felony 16 case types from remote display. Access depends on the case type, the statute, the party's status, and any court order in place. Most juvenile inquiries need a courthouse visit or a written request.

Can MCRO be used for employment background checks?

MCRO says it should not be used for background checks. The recommended official source is the BCA Minnesota Public Criminal History Search at chs.state.mn.us. The BCA links criminal history through fingerprints, which is the right standard for employment, licensing, and tenant screening.

What can I bring into the Ramsey County courthouse?

Avoid weapons and dangerous items. The court lists guns, knives, scissors, tasers, tools such as screwdrivers and box cutters, mace and pepper spray, clippers and files, knitting and crochet needles, glass containers, metal utensils, and cameras as examples of items not to bring. Screening may include bag inspection, metal-detector check, and hand wand. Other items may be confiscated at the security officer's discretion.

How do I search federal cases?

Use PACER and the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota systems. Federal bankruptcy cases use the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Minnesota. These systems are separate from Ramsey County District Court and MCRO. The public records page covers the federal court links.

How do I locate a state prison inmate?

Are sex offender registry records fully public in Minnesota?

No. The Minnesota BCA says registry information is generally not public except for specific statutory categories. The public non-compliant search lists registrants over age 16 who have been non-compliant for more than 30 days. Predatory offender registration is governed by Minnesota Statutes section 243.166.

How do I get notified when an offender is released?
